5/x = x - 4
Please explain. Thanks :)
Please explain. Thanks :)

first multiply both sides by x
x(5/x)= x(x-4)
then solve
5= x^2 - 4x
then get them both on the same side
0=x^2 -4x -5
then
0=(x-5)(x+1)
x= 5 or x = -1 theres your answers.
I apologize i dont remember the explanation of the last steps but it is correct. and you should be able to see those steps in text book or other problems

5/x = x - 4
5 = x^2 - 4*x
x^2 - 4*x - 5 = 0
(x - 5)*(x + 1) = 0
x - 5 = 0, x1 = 5
x + 1 = 0, x2 = - 1
5 = x^2 - 4*x
x^2 - 4*x - 5 = 0
(x - 5)*(x + 1) = 0
x - 5 = 0, x1 = 5
x + 1 = 0, x2 = - 1
