!We CAN & *DO*!!!......
People have had fire for up to 1.4 million - 250 000 years, long before modern humans evolved.
We've simply become accustomed to eating cooked meat now.

We can eat it we just prefer not to nowadays. It usually is fine but if the animal had an infection then we can get it too, but that is just a risk most animals have to take!

Also, the reason we get ill if we eat it is that it is not very fresh whereas if we ate it fresh from a killed animal we are less likely to get ill, like animals.
