So how bright would they be at 20000 Light Years?-OJ 287 is about 3.5 billion light years away, and the apparent visual magnitude is 14.83If it was 20,000 LY away,......
Just wanted to know, Because being at a distance of 3 billion Light Years, Quasars are extremly bright in the Telescope.

OJ 287 is about 3.5 billion light years away, and the apparent visual magnitude is 14.83 If it was 20,000 LY away, it would be 15.6 billion times brighter, which would be magnitude -10.65. On a scale of astronomical objects, that is between Sun as seen from Sedna at aphelion, and comet Ikeya–Seki. Not as bright as the full moon.

It really depends on the Quasar you are referring to. I'm not entirely sure but I think that Quasars are different sizes and magnitudes just like stars. It also depends on the point in time that you would be judging the Quasar. I apologise for not being particularly helpful :/
