Your date of death is always going the day you die and the time zone you are in when you die. One reason it has to be so is for official documents relating to your date of death; your place of death; and your time of death.
England is about 5 hours ahead of the US. If you died at 1:00 a.m., Monday, March 17 in England, your date of death would March 17 - because you died in England on March 17.
If you died in the US at 8:00 p.m. (which would already be 1:00 a.m.3/17 in England), the day would be Sunday, March 16 in the U.S; so March 16 would be your date of death.
