spot a say: There is lots of water on Mars. It "boils" at 10 degrees C on the surface so just collecting and condensing the vapour may be possible without using heaps of power. The vapour should be pure and drinkable
-
Snowwie888 say: Yes, although in the form of ice, we can use it. We only have to thaw it up.
But I wouldn't drink it straight from the ground, it has to be examined first, checked for spores of any lifeforms, bacteria or even viruses.

Brigalow Bloke say: There is a large quantity of ice on Mars. We can't use it until we get there. You will probably have grandchildren before anyone gets there.
-
Nyx say: It needs to be melted, and cleaned of impurities. But yes, it is there, and can be used.
-
Alpha Beta say: There is water, but its in the form of permafrost near the poles. There may be water under the surface, and there is evidence of this, but it will take a closer look to confirm it.
-
quantumclaustrophobe say: There is... The Phoenix lander first unearthed (Actually, un-marsed) water ice a few inches below the surface. Since then, the Mars Orbiter has seen the creation of 'run-off channels' down crater walls, which is thought to have been briefly-liquid water spilling down the sides before boiling away.
So, water is there, but getting it may be an issue - or, at least - getting *enough* of it, when it's needed. While water could be extracted from existing ice on Mars, it would be safe to bring a supply from Earth in case retrieving Martian water tends to be problematic.
-
poldi say: Yes, there is water on Mars.
If we were on Mars and near where the water was and had the equipment and power to extract it, yes we could use it.
-
say: Whats the water running from? LOL never gets old.
Ummm yes, there is. We know in the past their was water on mars from the imprints of the water. Where there is water their is life.
-
Bill say: No Direct evidence yet. they think there may be water on Mars but they have not proved it yet.
-
CarolOklaNola say: Yes, there IS water on Mars, It is UNDERGROUND. MOST of the time it is frozen, but NOT ALL of the time. Yes we CAN use it. Mars ha enough water to cover it in in 30 meters of of water. Make that 35 meters.

"...More than five million cubic kilometers of ice have been identified at or near the surface of modern Mars, enough to cover the whole planet to a depth of 35 meters (115 ft).[12] Even more ice is likely to be locked away in the deep subsurface.[13]..."
