answers:
Marcus M say: because of light pollution. If you go to dark laces with no light, say, a desert or in the middle of the ocean, you will see the beauty of the cosmos very clearly.
-
BRETT say: The stars (a/k/a heavenly hosts) boycott themselves from appearing when they are not contrasted well against the darkness of space for a backdrop.
-

-
RAT M say: STAR is RATS spelled backwards !
-
poldi say: Unless you go to a dark location, you won't see a lot of stars in the night sky if you are anywhere near a city.

When you say "no stars" do you mean none at all, or do you mean just a few.

Engr. Ronald say: Because stars are not visible at day other than the sun.. more star get visible at night, then our sun will be set to the horizon../

Naguru say: Yes. If you close the eyes, everything will look dark.

Or it may be day-time, when you are seeing the sky. During day time starts are not visible in the sky. You can see their photos in the cinema theaters.
-
spot a say: Lots of air pollution in your area and also light pollution which is ground light reflecting from dust and water droplets in the atmosphere blocks starlight.. Take a trip to a nearby mountain park for a better view of the sky
-
james say: At the equator there are the fewest stars. As the earth faces a more empty area of the Milkyway. So to see stars you must go north above the articcircle. Take a good telescope 200mm or better for light gathering power. Set it up on a cool night. When below -50f. So moisture is froze from the air. Very clear then. Look to high North at 300x or above & enjoy all the stars in the sky up there. You need to be in a area were there is no other light as well to see the most of stars. Or for most there are not that many stars to see up there. So location is important here.
