CarolOklaNola say: The Soyuz capsule matches speed with the ISS and DOCKS with the ISS so the astronauts in the Soyuz capsule are MOVING AT THE SAME SPEED as the ISS when the new astronauts go on board the ISS and the astronauts that HAVE been on thee ISS get on board the Soyuz capsule which then separates from the iss by firing small steering rockets and , and fires rockets to slow down that the orbit of the Soyuz becomes lower and then the Soyuz capsule goes into free fall, and fires rockets to land back on Earth. The Russians usually do not DO splash downs in the ocean.

The manned Orion Space capsule will be doing the same with when the BOTH the Orion Space Capsule and Space launch system rockets that have been in production for 5 and a half YEARS.or flight and safety tested.

Gary B say: By making THER space ship ALSO travel at 17,000 MPH.

Together, the difference between the two is ZERO MPH -- just the same as on earth.

quantumclaustrophobe say: The use a booster and a spacecraft that accelerates them up to the same speed and same altitude.

Araktsu say: Human being posts statement and a question mark:

"Hi. I was just wondering how people board the international space station if it's traveling at 17,000 miles per hour.?"

Your salutation:
Hi.

Your statement:
I was just wondering how people board the international space station if it's traveling at 17,000 miles per hour.

Your question mark:
?

If you meant the statement to be a question:

The manner of boarding the international space station (ISS) involves approaching the ISS in one's spaceship moving parallel to the ISS at the same velocity (relative to Earth). Once that is accomplished the spaceship approaches a crew docking facility probably with microadjustments from thrusters.
