F ; 36x^2
O ; 78abx
I ; 78 abx
L ; 169a^2b^2 or 169(ab)^2
Collecting terms
36x^2 + 156abx + 169(ab)^2

Paul say: You can use the FOIL acronym to remember how to multiply these brackets out.
First = 6x * 6x = 36x^2
Outside = 6x * 13ab = 78xab
Inside = 13ab * 6x = 78xab
Last = 13ab * 13ab = 169a^2 b^2
So your expanded expression is 36x^2 + 78xab + 78xab + 169a^2 b^2
This simplifies to 36x^2 + 156xab + 169a^2b^2.

sepia say: (6x + 13ab)(6x + 13ab)
= 36x^2 + 156abx + 169a^2b^2

Como say: 36x² + 78 abx + 78 abx + 169 a² b²
36x² + 156 abx + 169 a² b²
-
Mathmom say:
(A + B)² = A² + 2AB + B²
(6x + 13ab)²
= (6x)² + 2(6x)(13ab) + (13ab)²
= 36x² + 156abx + 169a²b²
-
D.W. say: (6x + 13ab) (6x + 13ab) = 6x·6x + 6x·13ab + 13ab·6x + 13ab·13ab
= 36x² + 78abx + 78abx + 169a²b²
= 36x² + 156abx + 169a²b²

ProfRay say: (6x)^2 + 2(6x)(13ab) + (13ab)^2
Algebra and other areas of Mathematics are all about PATTERNS. The more patterns you can recognize, the easier the topic seems. When I first encountered these patterns I would write them in large print on a sheet of paper and tack it to a cork board close to my study area. Then I could quickly refer to the patterns without having to page through my book. With practice they eventually stuck. Practice takes time. Are you willing to put in the time?
