Can I cheat fate just a little bit?

I dont believe if fate. Our life is filled with random events which some people attribute to coincidence (which is what really happens; co incidence means two things happening at the same time), and something called fate. Fate implies that there is a preordained determination of everything that happens in our life. I find that absurd. Larry K. say: First of all, I must disagree with your original premiss. I don't believe if fate. Our life is filled with random events which some people attribute to coincidence (which is what really happens; "co" incidence means two things happening at the same time), and something called fate. Fate implies that there is a preordained determination of everything that happens in our life. I find that absurd. Despite the philosophic arguments asserting that there is no such thing as free will, I believe there is and we make our own fate through our the decisions we make. So I find your question illogical.Several of your answerers have proposed minutia that illustrate how ridiculous the question can become depending upon how accurately you wish to determine time. I suppose you could attempt to determine the exact position of the sun when you were born to the position of the sun when you died in an effort to decide the time and the day you died. Does it matter? It certainly won't be relevant to you, and in a very short time to anyone else. In the earth's existence, you, the grave marker, and the cemetery will all be forgotten and return to a part of the earth's crust. Even those who we say will never be forgotten will be. Never is a long time.

Sciencenut say: Our solar-based calendar gets behind by ~a quarter of a day each year, causing us to have to catch it up by inserting an extra day on Feb 29th every four years or so. I think you would need to take that into account also.

jackiecandlestick say: If you want to celebrate your birthday as you are dying in London, feel free to do so. But technically, you would have NOT have achieved your next year, as if adjusted your birth time for London as well, it would be the same number of hours offset. A tougher question is: What is your were born during the time that the U.S. experimented with year round daylight savings time, but now the birthday falls on standard time, do you reclaim the hour?

quantumclaustrophobe say: Sure, that would work....

But... why would you want to? I'd rather it be more likely to have people say, "He died so young..." rather than "Well, it was his time."

Actually... I just plan to live forever. So far, so good.
