>>I never even said he WASN'T one of the greatest, I simply asked why he IS. Never confuse a question for a statement.<<
Do you think you're being clever? The question IMPLIES that he should not be considered such. Your question about 'just being first out' infers the same.
>>I reread my statements and I don't see "Neil Armstrong is not a hero" among them.<<
No, you never used those words but your meaning was clear
The problem is not that you asked the question, it's that you put so much other crap in there that implies the title is not justified. You can ask the question without adding the other stuff to it. Then you might have got a slightly friendlier response.
>>I just asked why he was.<<
But you didn't 'just ask'. You chucked in a whole load of stuff that implied he should not be considered one of the greatest, and accused people who said he was of denigrating others' achievements.
>>all the astronauts on board were heroes, but not because it's something only a handful of people can do; because they put their lives on the line for their country, for a good cause.<<
And don't you dare presume to lecture me about the astronauts and their status after all the crap you wrote. I've been studying their accomplishments for over a decade. I've got enough material on the subject to literally bury you in, and I have met many of them (though sadly I never met Armstrong and now never will). I KNOW why they are heroes.
