I'm currently working on a project that requires a plastic part that is threaded on the inside and can fit securely into a hole cut into a lexan sheet. The problem is that, I don't know what the name of this piece is called, so I cannot order it. I thought that it would be called a "threaded plastic insert", but none of my searches were coming up positive. I have a rough sketch of the piece provided below in a link:

If anyone happens to know the name of the part, it would be immensely helpful, so that I can go forward with the project. Thanks!

It called "fitting" or "adapter ".

Not sure how big this thing is from the picture, but can't you take your project to the hardware store, and see what fits. This way you can at least get a thread size like1/2" or 3/4'.

OK, this is a specialised metal one http://www.motorsport-sales.com/index.ph… but the generic term is "threaded boss".
