This is a fascinating question but to mind the past seems to be the past and therefore unalterable. I should think if someone had already done so we would have seen its impact by now.
In theory any possibility is allowed to exist without any kind of naysayer at all. But real life time has a fixed motion moving from future, to present, to past.
Even in a minor speculation about this a man coming from the future to the past, the present time he left would still continue and move forward.
Also in thinking about if it should it be possible a person could travel time then it means he cannot exist in two places at one time. In the past he's already dead even should he live a full life time. The relativity of time and all that a life time would squeezed into a lifetime of consciousness's in a previous live but his present life would cease at the same moment his past life theoretically did. If he spoke of the future he might be considered a lunatic at best or mad man. So he'd better keep his mouth shut. Also if he could bring a newspaper back with him he might not be able to bring it back.
That's just my thoughts. No big deal. My mind is tired any way.

David Deutsch in "The Fabric of Reality: The Science of Parallel Universes-- and Its Implications" has serious suggestions on time travel.
But our reality and existence as living beings may depend on the assumption that TT is not possible. If it was however there could be sudden changes in everything that would leave only a new memory of what had gone "before" and we wouldn't know any different, so why worry.

We have already lived out our entire life. Our reality is what Our creator decided to put us on.Image life as a clock, the clock is already filled in but the clock's hand is put on a certain spot and it ticks through already filled in clock. We were placed in a certain place, our birth to be exact, and now we are living through what we have already filled in.That's why time travel is possible, because all you have to do is set your clock hand and live out what you picked.

Think of the present as the place where you are conscious and physically occurring - think of the past and the future as the same but without the presence, and imagine how they must be relegated or staved off, in order to have transpired, elapsed or prevented from doing so until it is possible.
The successful attempt to get beyond these constraints is like a sum.
