The argument is that it is impossible to fake the moon landings yet it is easier for Hollywood to make a movie about Apollo 13 which looked more authentic than the actual lunar landing?

Are you sure you just don't have an emotional attachment for wanting us to land on the Moon?

Isn't real science based on asking questions? Another thing is that how do you know the Soviets didn't question the lunar landings? Can you speak Russian? Were you involved with the KGB and nothing was mentioned about the lunar landings being faked?

If you can answer these questions, I will stand corrected and give you the best answer. I would LOVE to think that we went to the moon. So if you can show me that I am wrong, then I will be happy.

Yup.

The Apollo programme involved thousands of people building different parts. If it were faked, then either thousands of, say, rockets engineers knew it because they would be making a fake rocket (and no-one ever said anything), or they didn't know it and therefore built a rocket capable of going to the moon.

Also, I don't think Apollo 13 did look more authentic than the actual lunar landing. If you watch the full footage, rather than the clips the media trot out every time, there is hours and hours of footage of men walking round on the moon. The Apollo 13 movie had, at most, 5 minutes at a time of footage of people bobbing about inside a spacecraft - and that was stitched together. That is because the only way to simulate free fall is in the vomit comet, which gives at most 30 seconds of weightlessness.
