I'm actually really curious because today, my english teacher told us that almost everyone did drugs and even admitted herself that she tried it and our parents probably did(yeah...)
So i'm curious..did A LOT of people do drugs & what was it like living in the 70's..?

Yes. The drugs that my patients OD'd on included sopors or ludes (Quaalude), bennies (benzadrine), yellow jackets, LSD and as always alcohol. I'm thinking that there is more marijuana use now than then, plus there is now more bang for the buck.
What type of people: as usual the risk taking male adolescents and their dumb and dizzy girl friends. Actually, a lot of intelligent kids did drugs. As I recall, it was usually kids from upper middle class families. The poorer kids mostly did alcohol.

By the 70s the harder hallucinogens (especially LSD) were losing popularity. Everybody smoked pot, it seemed, and peyote, mescalin were the hallucinogens of choice. All good fun stuff. Alcohol remained as popular as ever, too.But the hippie idea of harmless drug use for fun from the 60s was being pushed aside. SPeed, amphetamines were very popular and destructive. Cocaine was getting around very fast (crack, a form of cocaine didn't come out until the 80s). ANd heroine became popular.

yes... it was first promoted by the Beatles in the sixties along with unisex hair , and then during the Viet Nam war drugs were promoted among the soldiers fighting there... this is where drug use originated in the West..Earlier, The CIA was doing clandestine experimentation on unsuspecting civilians., notably with LSD

The 60's was much more of a drug type culture. Like a lot of Pot, LSD, and Mushrooms and people were much more open to try new things. It was a great time
The 70's however were alot like it is now. Id say the only difference is there was alot more cocaine being used then now.
But overall when you think of the "Drug Decade" youd think 1960's

yes they did way more drugs than we do today. lots of heroin and cocaine and weed
