Hi everyone I am currently taking pms-clonazepam r 0.5mg and I have been for about 4 or 5 years and I was wondering if it is safe to stop taking them and if so how should I go about getting off them?

I was taking zanax 6Mg's daily which is a benzodiazepine just like clonazepam is and went through hell coming off them. It took me 9 months to slowly ween off them until i was on such a low dose that i could stop ( .25Mg's daily) I still had pretty bad with-drawls for a few weeks after i stopped but it was well worth it. Like i did i would taper your dose down like maybe half or a quarter of a .5mg clonazepam pill every 3 or 4 weeks until you are down to say .25Mg's (quarter of a pill) a day then stop. You will get with-drawls that can last from 2 to 4 weeks once you have stopped completely but then it will stop and you will be no longer dependant on them. Trust me it takes time don't rush it just taper off very slowly and it be lot more comfortable but either way it wont be easy. Benzodiazepines are one of the hardest addictions to kick even harder than an opiate addiction. I wish you luck and hope you can kick your addiction even though it wont be easy just hang in there it can be done.
