You dont get the Big Money until you have been working for 5-10 years, and have PROVEN yourself to be smart and intuitive. The AVERAGE family income in the United States is about $46,000 with ONE person working.Average income for TWO people working is about $67,000.......

While a Pharmaceutical Engineer can make a LOT of money, you FIRST start as an ASSISTANT, at about $40,000 to $50,00 a year. You don't get the Big Money until you have been working for 5-10 years, and have PROVEN yourself to be smart and intuitive.

The AVERAGE family income in the United States is about $46,000 with ONE person working. Average income for TWO people working is about $67,000. The exact amount YOU make depends on where you live. California and the New York/Philadelphia/Boston area are VERY expensive, and the income is higher -- but you spend more for food, rent, and gas. Places like Kansas pay less, but it is also cheaper to live there.

An income of $65568 for one person in California is not too good. An income of $65568 for one person in Cincinnati, Ohio is not too bad.

Pharmaceutical Engineering CAN be VERY dangerous. Hazardous chemicals are always around -- acids, strong bases, deadly fumes, and explosive gasses are common items in a chemical lab. STRICT safety control measure are a must, and you WILL be fired for not obeying company rules for safety.

Not only that, but for medical purpose much of the chemistry is Organic Chemistry, which REALLY STINKS. Even in a "safe" lab, a smell like vomit, dead bodies, or farts can make you sick to your stomach.

Depending on exactly what part you do, the job can be EITHER like a scientist OR a factory worker. The person who DESIGNS the drug is more like a scientists, but the person who actually MAKES the drug (BOTH are Pharmaceutical Engineers) is more like a factory worker.

Pharmaceutical companies are generally HUGE, and they tend to stay in one location. Get a job with something like Bayer or Lilly or Pfizer or Johnson&Johnson, and you can spend a 40-year career in one room in one building! Frankly, almost sounds boring.

On the other hand, there are many areas in the Untied States known as "breeders", These are typically near large Universities. University students and staff will develop a new drug, device, or process, and then sell it to a much larger company. Once the drug is sold, the scientists are either out of work, or are shifted to a new products.
