I disagree on this.

I believe that humanity will die off when the sun dies out.

But most people say that humanity will not even exist within 100 years or more!

Why do they say this?

answers:
Larry Phischman say: Isaac Asimov said that if humanity made it 50 years past his death, we'd be okay for the next 1000 years. He died in 1992.

I don't think we're going to make it. I did before the election, but with Trump in the White House I don't think we're going to make it to 2020.

Nyx say: All species die off after a few million years. We humans are no different.
If anything, we have the ability right now to wipe out all life on the planet.
-
spot a say: Humans will survive well beyond 1,000 years unless a huge catastrophe such as a giant asteroid crashing into it happens. What we will not have in 1,000 years is a population of 12 billion or more. Plagues, wars, famine, no water or genocide will reduce the population to manageable level. If Hitler's team can massacre 6 million Jews and 6 million Polish people in 6 years the population can be reduced in less than 100 years if we try hard.

David@YourService say: Because we'll run out of land to sustain everyone well before then. Here’s why.

At most, 40 percent of earth’s land is arable, which translates into about 1.47 x 10^11 acres. The consensus among scientists is that for a person to survive, he or she would need at least one acre of land to continually farm on to sustain them, thus at most the theoretical maximum number of people the earth could hold is 1.47 x 10^11.

The Growth Rate (i) is defined by the equation below:

Nf = Np x (1 + i)^t, where

Nf = Future Number (i.e. Future Population)
Np = Present Number (i.e. Present Population)
