What constellation is the Milky Way in?

-------------------------------------------------------

answers:
Bill say: Our galaxy, the Milky Way, is part of a local group of Galaxies that includes the Milky Way. The Local Group comprises more than 54 galaxies, most of them dwarf galaxies. Its gravitational centre is located somewhere between the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy. The Local Group covers a diameter of 10 Mly (3.1 Mpc) (about 10^23 meters) and has a binary (dumbbell)[1] distribution. The group itself is a part of the larger Virgo Supercluster, which in turn may be a part of the Laniakea Supercluster.

Dump the liberals into Jupiter say: The Milky Way is big, so it runs though lots of constellations. But the center of it is in Sagittarius.
-
Satan Claws say: That's a bit like asking in which country is the Earth in.

poldi say: The Milky Way is our galaxy, every constellation is in the Milky Way.

If you mean which constellation does the Milky Way we can see appear in, that depends on the time of year.
The center of our galaxy is in the direction of Sagittarius.
-
nineteenthly say: It's in many constellations, as it wraps round the whole sky.
-
marlies say: Our milky way is flat, and we stand in that disk, away from the center, so we can see our own milky way disk as a thin stroke from one side of the sky to the other thru several constellations, indeed we can look thru the disk in all directions.
The milky way center is located in Sagittarius, but due to dust clouds we cannot see that center.
-
Nyx say: All 88 of them.
-
quantumclaustrophobe say: It's more accurate to say *all* the constellations are in the Milky Way.... all the stars we see are a portion of our galaxy.
