CarolOklaNola say: The summer Mlilky Way is Sagittarius, Aquia and Cygnus. the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. . The winter Milky Way galaxy, Orion arm is in Orion and some other constellations. We are in the Milky Way arm of the Galxy. It's mush harder to see the winter Milky way thant it is to see the summ er milky way, because the stars are mor dispersed in the winter milky way because we really are closer to those stars. You need a REALLy Dark sky with as little light pollution as possible.. The Summir Milky way is alot easier to see but you still need to be where you don't have a lor of light pollution and the realive humidity isn't high. The Summer milky way can look like a cloud with dirklanes in it that merge into oner lane. The only thing is the cloud doe NOT change shape even though it does move across the sky because the Earth is rotating.
Right now the Sun probably is in Sagittarius at sunrise right n ow. Wait until June and it will be a lot easier to see after midnight before dawn. The summer Milky Way is best July to September., but you need to know WHERE to look. I use Antares in Scorpio as my guide star for finding Sagittarius. And the Summer Triangle asterism of Altair Deneb and Vega.

Choose a bloody best answer. It's not hard. say: The Milky Way itself isn't in a constellation, because we describe constellational positions from our own perspective, and we're inside it.
If you mean the band of the galaxy toward the centre that is visible during dark nights in the middle of the year, it is brightest in Sagittarius, from where it extends southerly to Scorpius, Norma and Carina, and eventually around to Orion and Taurus.
The northern Milky Way in the area of Orion is more visible around new year. It is not as bright as the southern part as we're looking toward the outer edge of the galaxy, but has more bright stars.
