I'm not saying that nobody ever stepped foot on the moon or anything. I know there's an argument out there, or at least there's a few people, saying nobody ever landed on the moon. Which sorta makes sense because during the time, Americans were trying to out do the Chinese in terms of technology or...

answers:
Annie say: Because although there may be no gravity in space, there is some gravity on the moon, just not as much as Earth, and that's why when man was on the moon they were floating as much as "walking". So when they jumped, there wasn't enough gravity to bring the. Straight down like on Earth but there is enough to bring them down slowly.
-
Tom S say: Gravity is everywhere.
-
thegreatone say: Well then, how are we not floating off the face of the Earth?

Objects have gravity. The moon has gravity. Everything, even the Earth, is in outer space. But, it has gravity. So, we can land on the moon.
-
Ray say: Outer space is the area in between earth and the moon. All heavenly bodies have gravity. But if you were in a spaceship traveling to Mars and threw a banana peel out your window half way there, it would take forever for that peel to get sucked into a gravitational field and fall to some body.
-
Magic Mouse say: There most definitely is gravity in outer space. All objects no matter how big or small have a gravitational pull proportional to their mass. Saturn has a much stronger gravitational pull than earth and the sun's gravity is even stronger yet. While being about 1/4 that of earth, the moon still has enough gravity to hold a person to it's surface. As for the space race you are referring to, it was the Russians we were trying to beat.
-
Brigalow Bloke say: Read Newton's Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica, in the original Latin if possible and get back to us. it has a complete explanation.
