You are almost correct - these are not a 'little' odd, these are a lot odd.
In fact no serious credence can be given to these 'theories' or should we say 'stories'. Science does not work like this. Observations, experiments, and physical laws is how we discover things.
Furthermore 'opinions' form no part of this.
I'm trying to help answer without sounding too pompous.
I am compelled to believe them-- First because they are intuitively correct, They are logically appealing and they appeal to my sense of natural order in the cosmos. Furthermore there is overwhelming evidence to support the veracity of the concept..
