Smarter: Of course the chimpanzees, their cognitive abilities go completely unchallenged in the animal kingdom. To compare a chimpanzees intelligence with a lion would be almost absurd. Chimpanzess can utilize tools, plan ahead, use experiences from memory to apply to present situations, and even show some levels of empathy and language. Lions have mediocre intellignece. they have ahighly developed socilaization, can experience very basic emotions (as can most mammals), and have a relativley good ,memory.
Stronger: The lion by far. An adult male lion has significantly more muscle mass than a male chimpanzee. Lions need this stremnght to bring down prey that might be more than they weigh. a male lion has the ability to drag down buffalo that weigh 1,100-2000lbs. I'm not saying chimpanzees aren't infact they are very strong. An adult male chimpanzee is actually much stronger than an adult human and could even overpower a grown man.
More aggresive: lions all the way.You simly can't compete with their predatory drive for food and the mindset of outcompeting all other predators. This intense aggression is nessecary for taking down their prey. An animal fighting for its life will not give up so the predator trying to kill it needs the motivation and aggression to match. You can't be passive and docile when your trying to kill something to survive. and also this agression is neede to deal with other predators that compete with the lion such as hyenas, rival lions, and leopards. All animals won't hesitate to kill lion cubs and hyenas will occasionally try to take a kill from a lion if they have the numbers to. So the lion needs to be able to have the pure aggression to intimidate, steal a kill from, or even kill these other predators to eliminate competiton and protect thier cubs. Chimpanzees need agression as well to protect territory from rivals and kill the occsioanl bushbaby or colobus monkey they also will defend themselves feriously if needed but it jsut can't match up with the agression of a 100% predator.
