As Ive already told you the average pride usually consists of five or six related females, their cubs of both sexes, and one or two males . with the females averaging from 264-400 lbs and the males averaging from 330-550 lbs. Most of the pride is capable of fighting in this battle except for the cubs which would just get in the way. A gorilla troops tend to be made of one adult male or silver back,......

Thank you for the compliment back on the last question you asked. This fight is a little more interesting than the last one and would be an almost close one but again I have to hand it to the apex predators the lions. First lets again analyze the two different opponents. As I've already told you the average pride usually consists of five or six related females, their cubs of both sexes, and one or two males . with the females averaging from 264-400 lbs and the males averaging from 330-550 lbs. Most of the pride is capable of fighting in this battle except for the cubs which would just get in the way. A gorilla troops tend to be made of one adult male or silver back, multiple adult females and their offspring. With the male weighing in at 210-440 lbs and the females at an average of 220 lbs. When threatened with a large predator the adult silver back male of the group will step out to defend his troop all by himself. A lone predator might be intimidated by this 440 lb adversary but when faced with an entire lion pride it won't go well. Almost every member of the pride is capable of fighting and defending themselves while in a gorilla troop the only real fighter is the silver back. The silver back would of course try intimidation first. Screaming, yelling, hitting the ground, banging on its chest and standing up on two legs. This would probably work on the lions which probably would have never seen a gorilla before. They would probably decide not to engage or run off. The gorillas size and physique would give them the impression that it is another powerful predator and what would drive them away the most would be the standing on two legs which would make the gorilla look bigger and taller than it really was. But if the pride was truly intent on preying on the gorilla troop they would resist their fear and approach. Its all down hill from there. the gorilla would be easily overpowered and killed. The ape might focus enough of its energy to badly injure at least one member perhaps a young inexperienced female but in the end the other females and the pride males would finish off the primate. The rest off the gorilla troop would be fair game if they did not flee.

I too enjoy animals and wildlife and have accumulated some knowledge of animals myself through what ever resources I could find. I'm glad you find my answers helpful.
