It's obviously a different strain of flu (or various) each year, or else we would just build immunity to it.
Am I wrong in saying that it thrives in the winter season? Because it does appear to do so.
Thanks for any information on this

Because since it's cold every one is inside so it is easier to get the common cold when there are more people in the house which equals more germs such as the virus thus becomes the common cold.

the reason the common cold spreads every year is because our body builds up an immunity and it evolves and becomes a new strain just like the majority of surviving virus's such as mrsa , simple and correct answer being it mutates every year to get back into our body so our previously built up defenses are futile :D and surya .... that is bull the reason we catch it in winter and cold weather is because it gets into our systems while our bodys are cold , when our bodys are trying to use homostasis to get back to exactly 37 degrees celcius not because the virus gets some super power when its cold :P

rhinovirus causes a cold. rhino..as in nose. inhaling cold air in winter lowers our resistance to the virus, and we are exposed to it more in confined areas indoors.
-
its simply related to colder weather. cold enhances its power

there are all so summer colds I got my first winter cold from my nose clipper by not rinse and sanitize them after each use.
