Correct to some extent. Molecules when compressed get liquify. When they are close intermolecular interactions are more dominant.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but I think you're asking if molecules pack closer together when they have intermolecular forces; that would be a yes. Unless you're talking about freezing water. But just because you pack molecules closer together does not mean they form intermolecular forces; those are formed because of the shape / composition of the molecules. Hope this helped.
