Hubs is severely Red-Green color blind. On our second or third date we were at my brother's for a barbecue and he dipped a tortilla chip in sweet relish thinking it was a bowl of salsa because he could not tell the difference.
He says that red, green, orange, and brown are all different words for the same color. I asked him stupidly what color was it. Of course, he didn't know since they all look the same. But what color do they see?

most red-green blind people are lacking the green receptor pigments or receptor itself,. it is less common to lack the red receptor pigment. It basically means that two colors which look different for you because they have a different amount of red look the same for your husband, because he doesn't see the red portions of it.
You can go to this website and check how a picture you can upload would look for somebody colorblind:

If you are reasonably familiar with photoshop you can just delete the content of one color channel to get the same effect.
