Life on other planets and religion

theres no reason that same Creator couldnt create a second. And if we arose without a Creators help, then theres no reason other intelligent species cant happen the same way.Similarly regarding immortal souls and afterlife - we dont have any actual *proof* of either now (at least not any that holds up to scientific examination - My holy book says that.. is *NOT* proof,......
If it were discovered that there is life on another planet in a galaxy somewhere, would that disprove the concept of religion; that there is an ultimate creator behind life on earth and a moral code must be adhered to in order to guarantee your immortal soul an eternity of happiness? Would it instead prove that evolution is the reason for life and its adaptation to given environments? Mind you, I'm not religious, just curious.

Well, it wouldn't prove much about a Creator one way or the other. If a Creator formed one intelligent species, there's no reason that same Creator couldn't create a second. And if we arose without a Creator's help, then there's no reason other intelligent species can't happen the same way.

Similarly regarding "immortal souls" and "afterlife" - we don't have any actual *proof* of either now (at least not any that holds up to scientific examination - "My holy book says that.." is *NOT* proof, much as you might want it to be). And adding another species to the mix doesn't add anything - unless they actually *do* have proof regarding souls and afterlife.

However, the various religious groups will have lots of practical issues to worry about. Do the aliens have souls? If not, are they considered inherently good or evil? The Christians will have to decide if Jesus's sacrifice saved them as well, the Jews will have to figure out whether whatever the aliens eat counts as kosher or not, and so on.

Well i think that all life forms start out at the same spot, just different materials, environment, etc. This vid is pretty cool to kinda get at what im talking about.

But who knows? maybe their just like us, or maybe their completely opposite. but if they havent came to us, their either not as intelligent as we are or are smarter not to go near a destructive race haha.

The God (spoken universally since there are multiple religions in this world) created us. Why can't He create another one? He can use the same concept that He used with us. (i.e prophets). So, I don't see the weird thing about it. If there's a bacterium in the outer space, there'll be more lives out there.
