Why donate blood for free when doctors charges an arm and a leg for operation?
-
It's a gift that you don't have to give. Medical costs and administration are already too high
-
Because your donated blood isn't going to doctors, it is going to patients who, as you point out, already are paying an arm and a leg for medical care, demanding to be paid for giving your blood would just make it even more expensive for patients.

I donate sperm by the gallon, takes a week to fill up the carton and they won't take it if it's slightly pink from blood. That's 800 dollars a week and I get the added reward of seeing lesbian couples walking around with babies that look just like me.

It feels nice knowing you have done something good for a good cause.
