Can anyone tell me what happens on the dark side of the moon? I'm not talking about the song nor the movie. I'm talking about the moon that goes around earth 365 times per year.

In the old days the word "dark" meant the same as unknown or mysterious.
So the "dark side really means the back of the moon that cannot be seen from earth.
The back has been photographed by space-craft now so it is no longer "dark", it is very similar to the near side but withe fewer mare and more craters.

The dark side is the side that never gets sunlight, it is actually believed that we had two moons, and the other moon crashed into our moon on the darkside, I don't really think we have much info on the darkside, because when the Apollo missions went around the moon we lost contact, because we couldn't get telephone signals through there, and they didn't take any pictures, but it's barren, not as cratery as our side. Nothing special, like aliens or anything ;)

The dark side usually is the side with the most craters because it gets hit more.
