Time or position ? And why?

Position, because time usually goes on the x axis. Also, the x axis is for the independent variable, and y for dependent. In this case, position is dependent on the time, so thats why position goes on the y axis.

The x axis is always for the independent variable. Time is obviously independent of anything, because no matter what happens, time goes on right? Therefore position is a function of time, and position goes on the y axis.
