It's "negative fourteen equals 's' plus twelve over six". I'm sure it's relatively simple but I just can't remember how to do it.

;D Thank-you!

-
-14 = (s + 12) / 6 [multiply by 6 on both side] iff
-84 = s + 12 iff
s = -96

If you meant,

-14 = s + 12/6 iff
-14 = s + 2 iff
s = -16

-
s= -16

12/6=2
Rewrite problem as: -14=s+2
isolate s by subtracting 2 on both sides.

-
-14= s+ (12/6)
-14= s+2
-16=s

-
s + 12/6 = - 14
s + 2 = - 14
s = - 16.
