how high does the ball rise? take g = 10m/s^2.6. A 0.75 kg block is being pushed on a horizontal table. The force pushing the book is 7N and the frictional force between the book and the surface has magnitude f = 5N.......
5. A boy throws a ball into the air as hard as he can and then runs as fast as he can under the ball in order to catch it. If his maximum speed in throwing the ball is 15 m/s and his best time for a 25-m dash is 3.5 seconds, how high does the ball rise? take g = 10m/s^2.

6. A 0.75 kg block is being pushed on a horizontal table. The force pushing the book is 7N and the frictional force between the book and the surface has magnitude f = 5N.

a. what is the weight of the book?
b. what is the acceleration of the book?

PLEASE show the proper steps and your answer THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!

the boy is traveling at 7.1429 m/s
make a right triangle with 15 as the hypotenuse and 7.1429 as the horizontal leg
use the pythagorean theorem find the vertical leg [sqrt(15^2 - 7.1429^2)]

displacement = (initial velocity)(time) + (1/2)(g)(t)^2
plug that speed into the equation as the initial velocity and zero as final velocity
solve for displacement

weight = (mass)(g) = 7.5 N

F = ma
(7-5) = (.75)a
a = 2/0.75 = 2.667 m/s^2

Hope this helps.
