Carolyn say: I don't like the word "allowed". In this country, we are born with inalienable rights, those should only be restricted from convicted criminals. Yes, I think there is an age when children can responsibly learn this skill / sport and I support people who want and can do that, but personally I am not interested, for me it's a huge danger because I am not knowledgeable about it. But nor would I let my kids ride an ATV yet at ages 7 and 6, although my friend lets her 7 year old ride dirt bikes and ATVs, because his dad knows all about it and knows how to keep him safe. It depends on the parent and the child as to what is smart to do. Legally, of course.
