why cant we see the big bang?
if when we look out into space, we also look back in time, why cant we see to the point where light from the earliest moments just before or during the big bang?

answers:
say: The cosmic microwave background is actually the vibrational frequency of the first light explosion of the Big Bang Theory. We are all apart of that energy.
-
Sanjay say: Because it happened a really long time ago.
-
wilhelm say: We can see the residual microwave radiation that is left over from the Big Bang, just as we can see extremely old stars, etc.
-
Gray Bold say: The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is under construction and scheduled to launch in October 2018. JWST's capabilities will enable a broad range of investigations across the fields of astronomy and cosmology. One particular goal involves observing some of the most distant events and objects in the Universe, such as the formation of the first galaxies. These types of targets are beyond the reach of current ground and space-based instruments.

Brigalow Bloke say: We do see "light" from soon after the BB. it's called the cosmic microwave background and is mostly in the microwave radio spectrum now.
-
Donut Tim say: The big bang is the expansion of the universe and is still visibly in progress. We can see it.

The term often refers to the "beginning" of the expansion. At that time there was no matter to see, only energy.

Clive say: We CAN.

The thing is, though, that the Big Bang happened at one small point and expanded from there. So there is no such thing as a particular place you can see it - it happened everywhere at once. "Everywhere" is just now a lot bigger than it was. So if there is anything to see, you should be able to see it in every direction you look. And we do. It's called the cosmic microwave background, and there is no other theory that can explain why we "see" it in radio telescopes.
