it works. Before they use it to establish the first human settlement on Mars.

If something goes wrong on the moon the astronauts can return in 3 days.

But if something happens on Planet Mars. The people won't be able to return back to earth on time.

Nyx say: Mars One is a joke. Or a decent way of separating people from their money.

However, testing equipment prior to leaving is a really good thing to do anyway. But no trips to the Moon are needed. There are several large vacuum chambers here on Earth that equipment, procedures and people can be tested in.

Raymond say: 1) Forget Mars One.
2) Going to the Moon is almost as expensive as going to Mars.
3) There are other ways (a lot less expensive) to test the material.
4) I cannot think of an event that would make it useful to be able to return in 3 days.

poornakumar b say: It must have undergone far more (worse) tighter tests that you can't even imagine. Have you heard of 'MIL specs' ? NASA must be having far more stringent test procedures & labs to carry them out. They must be keeping all the documents.

No need to be concerned about what is little more than a publicity scam. I'll be amazed if there is ever any "technology" created that will need to be tested.

Gary B say: The "atmospher" on teh moon is different from Mars, and the test would be a faulty comprasin, liek apples and oranges.

The Moon has NO atmospher. Mars has an atmospher, but it is simpyl less than earth.

quantumclaustrophobe say: Which country would enforce that law...?
-
PhotonX say: Mars One, the Ponzi scheme of space exploration? I wouldn't worry too much about that. If they were a going concern, though, such a requirement would be absurd.

-
cmac'm say: Agree but that should just be common sense, not law. Funding for a moon base is often hard to come by, so they need grander ideas for public support and funding- like mars
-
Acetek say: Not an issue. Mars One is a con and will never get off the ground
