Six does indeed equal six, so we have a true statement, thus our original statement was also true, mainly that 1/2 = 3/6
If I split a pizza in half, then take 1 of those halves, I have the same amount as if I cut a pizza into 6 EQUAL pieces, then took 3 of those pieces. Obviously in the later case I'd have 3 pieces, compared to 1 piece, but they would have the same "value".

Ricki say: Jake be right. Do each division in your calculator. You get 0.5 for each. Thus they are the same.

bruce 888 say: Well, just think about it:
1/2 means you got 1 thing out of 2 which means you got half of the whole
3/6 means you got 3 things out of 6 which again means you got half of the whole
so half equals half that's what this two values all mean..
mathematically you can simplify any faction into its smallest numbers without changing its value.
Here 3/6 as 3 is a common factor for 3 and 6, if you divide both by 3 to
simplify this faction
Then 3÷3 / 6÷3 = 1 / 2
So 1/2 = 3/6 = 9/18 = 100/200 and so on.

True
-
M. say: It's true!
They are both 50% of 1.
That's point five (in USA English).
Or one half.
