Lord Bacon say: It is a market economy. If you can add value through music, art or the humanities, there will be a demand for those graduates. Graduate engineers are in demand because they add a lot of value to products and services for which there is a growing demand.
No one owes us a living. If we choose to study a subject for which there is no demand, we have only ourselves to blame for the lack of job prospects. We all have choices. The trick is to do our research and choose wisely.

PENYOU say: Well, what good use could companies like GM, IBM, General Electric, etc have from music, arts, and humanities majors?Those are the companies hiring engineers. I doubt music schools hire engineers over music majors...
However, I know some tech companies such as Google will sometimes prefer engineers who double major or minor in humanities and related areas because they seem more "well-rounded". But still, engineering is important to them.
