Bill say: No. Radiation from the SUN would kill any living thing.
Nuclear Radiation.

Sciencenut say: The poles of Mercury have permanently shadowed crater floors that never get sunlight, and have deposits of water ice, as is also true of the poles of our Moon. A base on Mercury at the poles would be quite possible.
-
Quadrillian say: No.
Not possible to Mercury either.
Cheers!
-
digquickly say: Yes, ..., of course it is but you have to have the funding first and Mars or the Moon are most likely the next missions to occur.
-
choko_canyon say: POSSIBLE? Sure, but there's no good reason to do it, considering the cost and the inability for anyone to survive on the light side of surface.
-
quantumclaustrophobe say: While I don't think we could do it now, I think it would be possible in the future. Mercury rotates slow enough that a manned mission could set down in the twilight area of Mercury (or, on the full-night side), do their tests & prospecting, and leave without being in danger of the sun. An orbiting 'mothership' would need to be protected from the intense sun, however.
I'll bet it would be expensive, but.... doable.

Donut Tim say: With today's technology, no. Sorry.
-
Nyx say: Certainly. Just needs a mandate to do so, and funding.
-
Matt say: No. It is way too close to the sun. A probe would have to be sturdy beyond belief to sustain on mercury let alone a petson whod be scorched and suffer intense radiation. The planet itself is basically a scorched ball of rock let alone what would happen to a person at that distance.
-
Dan say: Nope. Too hot.
-
Al say: It's possible, but what would be the point?
-
Gary B say: no.
to hot. In-suir airconditioning can;t handle it.
-
Acetek say: Not for a while. Don't have the tech for that yet.
