The cooling of the water would then be considered exothermic.So I think you are right on all counts.......
1) when solid KBr dissolves in water the solution gets colder = endothermic
2)natural gas is burned in a forced-air furnace = exothermic
3)when concentrated acid is added to water the solution gets very hot = exothermic
4) water boiled in a teakettle = endothermic

you have to focus on the system. In the last case, water in the kettle is the system. You are adding heat to it, so it is clearly endo

I think adding heat to water in a kettle would be considered endothermic. The cooling of the water would then be considered exothermic.


So I think you are right on all counts.
