Did you know that Science has not yet verified when a life begins? (and, isn't that a hard thing to verify anyway?)?

answers:
geezer say: ''Life'' begins as soon as the sperm reaches the egg.
''Independant life'' is a completely different thing !
-
say: That’s because science really can’t explain what life is in the first place. Crystals can grow. Fire can adapt, reproduce, and consume fuel for energy, but neither of those two things are alive.
-
daniel g say: In science life begins at the fertilization and division of the first cell.
In the sense of human life, that applies, but a fetus is not human until it is born and becomes independent of its parent.
A fetus is not self aware, ergo it is not yet a human.
-
Bulldog redux say: When you put a pot of cold water onto a stove to boil, what is the exact moment when it stops being cold and starts being hot?
-
Cowboy say: Do you know that there's no reason AT ALL why any government or religion should have ANYTHING to say about a woman's access to family planning and abortion if necessary?
-
Pearl say: its easy, it begins with conception
-
Malcolm say: What is so "hard" about two living cells merging into one living cell?
-
Bulky_Bob say: It almost does not matter what science determines. God has declared that He formed the person in the womb, that He "knew" that person even before that conception, and He had a plan for that person's life (Jeremiah 1:5).
-
tentofield say: People have not yet agreed on what life is. We know that life appeared on this planet about 3.5 billion years ago but what form did it take? It certainly wasn't a cell, that came later. Viruses are simpler than cells and prions are simpler than viruses. Both viruses and prions are crystalline structures. What we can say about the first life was that it was a crystalline structure capable of replicating itself. Once replication appeared, evolution kicked in.

As far as a foetus is concerned, if life begins at conception then reproduction is very wasteful. More than 50% of fertilised ova abort naturally mostly without the woman being aware she has conceived. They either fail to implant on the uterus or abort shortly after doing so. If the woman is aware she has conceived such abortions are called miscarriages.

If all those naturally aborted zygotes are fully fledged humans, what does the anti-abortion lobby intend to do about them? Collect all the used tampons and sanitary pads of sexually active women and have mass cremations with prayers from all the different religions?

James say: That's because there isn't a defined moment at which life begins (or ends). It's a gradient. Asking when life begins is like asking at what point in the spectrum of a rainbow does the color stop being red and start being orange.
-
JASON say: It depends on your definition, which is restricted by the language you use. A cave man doesn't know the woman he's just mated with is pregnant, and indeed women don't until they test for it or miss a period. The baby couldn't survive without being inside the womb, but then again a toddler couldn't survive without parents to look after them.
-
say: Life began 3.8 billion years ago. This isn't exact but it's about as close as we're going to get.
-
ronich69 say: IMO... Life begins when it doesn't depend on a host to survive.
-
Anne say: Life begins when it can exist on its own outside of the womb.
-
Everard say: And we they haven't found a cure for cancer

You act like you think we're close to knowing eveything
You don't understand that the more we know
The more we realise we don't know.

You're a typical Dunning-Kruger.

~Andy's Reprisal~ say: Idiot...
-
EddieJ say: You are mistaken. Science has determined that life began 3 billion years ago.

Edit: Fetus wise, it doesn't really matter. When my blood is withdrawn for a test, those cells with human DNA will die, but it's not considered murder -- if that's what you are trying to dance around.
