A C say: It's our opportunity to get to know and serve our Creator and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, and to get prepared for eternity.

TheUniversalMatrix say: We are 8 billion like half-conscious genes carrying on and nurturing inside our head-eggs and brain-placenta one genetic characteristic of a cosmic consciousness baby which is being building by millions of others genes at other worlds inside this Universe. We are facing hard times due two problems:
1) Our remotly ancestor - which means ourselves when in primmitive forms - made the big mistake of building a kind of paradise from its own body becoming a self-closed system, closing the doors to its own evolution, refusing to accomplish his mission that is delivering its genetic information. Tis kind of free-will triggers entropy, then, the closed suystem was fragmented and falling at Earh for beginning everything again and correcting the soul from this sin;
2) Every new evolved shape of cosmic genes is a cycle divided into two phases; the first one is "eggs out", like our biological shape came from bacterials till reptiles: the second phase is "eggs in", when the new being is protected and nurtured. This new universal systemic shape here at Earth - consciousness - still is a fetus, and as egg out, that's why we faces tragedies, predators, etc.
Ok, no human knows which is the real final meaning of life and this world, maybe there is no meaning, but, you can choose your own bet. I described above the meaning suggested by Matrix/DNA Theory, which, I think, is the best, most logical and rational facts based that I know.

tony say: purpose....mystery.....You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.Life has no meaning. Each of us has meaning and we bring it to life. It is a waste to be asking the question when you are the answer.Learn to light a candle in the darkest moments of someone’s life. Be the light that helps others see; it is what gives life its deepest significance.”
It does not matter how long you are spending on the earth, how much money you have gathered or how much attention you have received. It is the amount of positive vibration you have radiated in life that matters,

Spock (rhp) say: does life have to have a meaning?
if so, does it have to have one that we humans can discover?
my point: we are inside the system. All systems exist to provide something to some other, usually larger, system. Can you detect what that something is from the inside? In every case? In any case?
Since we are inside the system ... why can't you simply accept that and make your life be about what you think will be useful and helpful?
Further point: the impartial and quite imperial processes we call Evolution will judge your behaviors. [and mine] What the judging criteria are, ... well, if we don't know the purpose and meaning, can we even discern the criteria?
isn't philosophy fun?
real whacked out exam question: "Why?" best answer I've come up with in 40 odd years of pondering: "Wry not?"
btw -- if you use this in a class, the honest thing to do is provide source of the material ... even though it's just some random grampa in YA! of course, I've no way to police whether you do or not ... but the teacher has google....

say: All people who are idle suffer from depression and a lack of purpose. People are meant to server something. Some people server their selves. Some people serve a higher purpose. This is a large reason as to why people who retire stop serving a purpose and die shortly after. It's when people remain productive that they continue to live longer lives.
It all starts with the beginning where God put Adam in the garden. God gave Adam the purpose of keeping the garden. At the beginning, people worked in service of God. People will always in service of something.

say: philosophically:
we are life, what do we mean by living?
we should try to live well.
biologically: we are an evolved organism, and even our mammalian placental pregnancy method of birth evolved. it shows that we are an inseparable part of the natural environment.
psychologically: we have evolved consciousness as an organism. as b.f. skinner points out in his biological psychology, while all organisms have sensitivity to observe basic phenomena, as humans evolved they were able to observe higher phenomena. however, none-the-less for it, they did evolve. there is no separation between biological-psychological developments.
environmentally: we have to the connection between the environment and the person, as we have formed not only a geographic environmental consciousness, but the geo-cultural one as well. perhaps, it is necessary to try to use more then one school of thought, as there are over 16-different schools of psychology with which to observe our life.
