so basic, how are stars born?
do you guys know?

Stars form from huge clouds of hydrogen gas. Gravity attracts the molecules together, and when a clump big enough has formed, the cloud will begin to circle around the center of mass. Slowly, this mass builds as it pulls more and more in from the cloud, and the increased gravity shapes the cloud into a disk.
With each gas molecule added to the central clump, heat and pressure begins to grow in the core. Eventually, when the heat and pressure reach a certain point, fusion starts - and the star is born. The disk of gas and debris orbiting the star will collect into planets and planetoids.

Inside the core of the star, the hydrogen is being converted to Helium, and releasing huge amounts of energy. (This is what's happening in our sun today.) If the star is massive enough, it may begin burning the hydrogen into heavier elements (carbon, calcium) and those elements may be fused into even heavier elements.

The most massive stars can fuse elements lighter than iron; but once iron is produced in a star's core, it can't convert this material into heavier elements *and* release energy.

ok, after the big bang their were only two elements in the universe, hydrogen and helium. all matter has gravity and gravity pulled together a lot of hydrogen and helium at different points throughout the universe creating stars.

A star is a balance between gravity that wants to crush it and explosive forces that want to blow it apart. Stars burn through a lot of energy destroying this balance.Depending on the size of the star it will either collapse into a black hole or expand into a red giant and eventually go super nova.
