2) 9.please show all work.a = accel = 9.d=distance = 4.vf^2 = 0 + 2 x 9.8m/s/s x 4.......
An object falls freely from rest near the surface of Earth. What is the speed of the object when it has fallen 4.9 meters from its rest position?

1) 4.9 m/s
2) 9.8 m/s
3) 24 m/s
4) 96 m/s

please show all work.

-
use vf^2=v0^2 + 2ad

vf=final velocity
v0=initial velocity = 0
a = accel = 9.8m/s/s
d=distance = 4.9m

vf^2 = 0 + 2 x 9.8m/s/s x 4.9m

vf = 9.8m/s

Not a lot of work to show:
V = √2gh {where h = 4.9, g = 9.8}
estimating as h = 5 and g = 10 then V = √100 so ANS = 2)
