I got caught by ctv footage shoplifting stupid hair extensions worth $40. I have to go to court in december. This is my first ever offense. I am 19. I'm so scared and ashamed and highly stressed. I can't eat sleep or anything. I just got a job will I lose it? I'm also applying at uni to be a primary teacher..... Will I still be allowed to do this?? I hate my life so much rght now. Don't say how stupid I am, cause trust me I know.

Forget what others said...do some research into what the process is and punishments are for this crime in your area, then it won't seem so scary and you'll be a little prepared when going into court. There's not enough room in our jails/prisons for a crime like yours.
Not everyone who shoplifts goes to jail their first time. Just relax and you will find that you will most likely get probation for 3 years depending on the county. Als odepending on the county as well, you should be able to get it expunged or sealed or w/e. Just do some research.

Sister, you need to speak with parents. You're not too old. They will (or should) have the life experience to tell you things you need to hear.
Feeling stupid is nature's way of making sure you don't do it again. That's a good start. You're probably genuine in that. Now, tell the truth frankly and honestly. Don't go over the top on the guilty act, just let your history speak for itself.

As for the rest, that's up to the judge and your employer. Plead guilty and take your lumps. You're an adult now and you are responsible for your actions.
