HOMEWORK: RIGHT OR WRONG

Answer incorrectly4.Provide the information required to find the answer, but let the student do the work to find it...perhaps give them the formula they need,......
So many kids these days come on Yahoo Answer looking for us to do their homework for them.
Why do so many of you do this work for so many who's only desire is to sit back and do nothing while we are expected to work for them?

Why do you answer homework questions?
I do not mind answering genuine queries, but homework is another matter.

Do we do an injustice to the children by answering their homework for them? Surely not paying attention in class does the child no favors. Homework is for study.
What do you think.

Not everyone who has a difficult time on a homework assignment is lazy, or a bad student. Sometimes, some people just don't understand a certain topic or a specific problem. If this is the case, I will usually try to help them understand the concepts, but make them do the math.

When a user makes it obvious that they want the Y!A community to do their entire assignmnet (10-20 questions or so, all from the same user, usually all about the same topic), I usually skip all the questions from that user.

Injustice or not, you have the following options:

1. Ignore
2. Answer correctly
3. Answer incorrectly
4. Provide the information required to find the answer, but let the student do the work to find it... perhaps give them the formula they need, but leave them with the calculation, or explain a phenomenon, and let them try to figure out what the result of that phenomenon is.

Personally, I like option number four, but sometimes, I'm lazy too.

I usually answer on the Mathematics board, and there are tons of people who obviously post their homework questions in the hopes that somebody will answer them.

Personally, I try to help people to understand what they're not grasping in math. Maybe I can show them a way to solve their problem(s), or maybe I can give them links to websites that will show them how to solve their problems, or maybe I know the names of methods/operations that they don't know (and just by knowing the name, the person can google it and find a treasure trove of information that will help them). But I generally only do this for a person who posts one question at a time, and usually I will pay attention to the Math board, and if I see that the same person is posting the same kind of math question over and over again, I won't bother answering any more of their questions. It's all a case by case system, I suppose. Some people just need a little help, and I've been there before. Personally, I'm a little pissed that Y!A didn't exist when I was in High School. It would have made things so much easier for me, especially when I was learning about volumes of revolutions in calculus.
