I and a friend who used to believe in that stuff tried for 26 days, last January, as a test to see whether it works. I wanted to prove to her that "Moon wishing" works as well as random coin tosses and she wouldn't accept it.
So, after some initial reluctance on her part (I guess she wasn't that certain of it to begin with) and some convincing of my part, she agreed that we would do a scientific experiment to test it. I explained a test protocol to her, it was very simple: each of us had one normal coin that we'd use and every day we would do three launches each, in front of the other, and count how many heads and how many tails would come out. Each of us would wish to have three "heads" launch, so if the "Moon wishing" worked then it would definitely merit further attention. We counted +1 for each "heads" result and -1 for each "tails" result. So if she did three "heads" tosses, she'd count +3 that day, if she had three "tails" tosses she'd count -3, if she did two heads and one tail it would count as +1+1-1 = +2, etc. Something like the basic techniques that card counters use when playing blackjack in casinos.
So every time the Moon would rise on the horizon, we'd do it. We started on January 19th because she was convinced that the Full Moon was the most powerful, so we waited a few days to begin. I didn't object because I was confident it would make no difference. She was a little surprised to see the Moon when the sky wasn't completely dark, and I explained that it was normal, and that if we'd have started a few days earlier she would have seen the Moon rising during the afternoon. I suppose this shook her up a little bit and became distrustful.
