Nowadays, we talk of anything but science -- which is sad really, she used to be quite interested in what I had to say about it.
I didn't. It tested my patience having to wake up late at night to conduct the remaining trials for the next days. I know I missed one wake up because I was really tired. But I did 23 more runs anyway, which were easier because the following Moon rises happened at more manageable hours. We had a few cloudy days, so I used Stellarium to time the Moon rises.

I still say that you can still "cast a spell" without the pennies and without the Full Moon.
The Moon (whether Full or not) is just an object and it certainly cannot do anything. It does not care for pennies (which, in any case, would never reach it).
Casting a spell CAN work... if you ask for something that is possible AND if you then do what needs to be done to fulfill it. And yes, luck does help.
However, following irrelevant recipes does nothing, except perhaps re-enforce your focus (it is exactly the way religions work).

Sorry, it's not real. The moon is just a chunk of rock orbiting the earth. The full moon is just when it's in a certain position relative to the sun and the earth. On the other hand, if someone really truly believes in it, it could alter their approach towards life, and they would attribute that to the wish. But it won't actually do anything magical. Sorry. :D
