They are considered clever both because they have the largest brain to body mass ratio besides human beings, and because they have shown through behavioral experiments that they have the ability to learn, and to think up solutions for novel problems. They do have a language as they are also able to coordinate complex activities with one another.

I have no idea. They can't talk...they screech like someone jamming a drill into your ear and I've heard tell that if they get their nose stuck in a six pack holder they die!
