How common is it for companies to practice animal testing

I'v heard that good companies have restored to better non-animal testing methods but some still infact practice it. How common is it for a company to practice animals testing? I despise this act against nature so much since everything (IMO) deserves a chance to live.

It was extremely common decades ago but animal testing has now largely been abandoned as unnecessary by most companies making personal care and household products. They have developed other methods of establishing the safety of their products.

Testing on animals is still done pretty extensively by pharmaceutical companies testing new drugs for safety. I can't say that's wrong, as long as the animals are treated humanely. Would you really want to buy drugs that have never been tried before on animals or people?
