Africa is huge. There are parts of Africa outside the hurricane zone.

Hurricanes form in the Atlantic ocean, not in Africa. Africa is bigger than the whole of north America from Panama to Canada and has tropical rainforest in equatorial regions and deserts under the sub-tropical ridges in northern and southern Africa. The hurricanes that form in the Atlantic go nowhere near the desert regions but move west across the Atlantic towards the Caribbean.
